Kwazulu‐Natal flooding
The Law Society of South Africa (LSSA) offers its support and stands in solidarity with the people in the flood-ravaged parts of KwaZulu-Natal. The LSSA will be making a donation of R 25 000 to the relief fund. The President of the LSSA, Mabaeng Lenyai, calls on all legal practitioners who are able to contribute to the relief fund or charities assisting victims, to do so.
We express our sincere sympathies and solidarity after the devastating floods on behalf of the attorney’s profession and all like-minded South Africans.
We mourn with our country for the loss of lives of innocent victims of this disaster.
We pray for the injured, and we applaud the various charities and the disaster relief organisations – both state and private – for their relentless humanitarian efforts to assist the families devastated by the floods.
We call on all legal practitioners to assist where possible to ensure the rights and possessions of displaced families and persons are protected.
The LSSA will assist all legal practitioners who could not write their examinations due to the flooding, ensuring that they can write admission and specialist examinations. The LSSA will engage with the Legal Practice Council to collaborate to find a reasonable solution.
