Invitation to attorneys’ firms to align themselves with the Procurement Protocols for briefing and allocation of work in the legal profession

ADVISORY FROM THE LAW SOCIETY OF SOUTH AFRICA

Dear Colleagues

As you may be aware, the Law Society of South Africa has played a seminal role – together with the General Council of the Bar, Advocates for Transformation and the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development – in the Action Group on Briefing Patterns in the Legal Profession. The Action Group was set up following the Briefing Patterns Summit in March 2016 to implement the recommendations of the Summit.

On 31 March 2017 the Action Group issued a press release on progress made over the year since March 2016. Read the press release here.

One of the major achievements has been the adoption by the legal profession of the Procurement Protocols drafted by the Action Group.

A formal signing ceremony of the Procurement Protocols will be held at Emperors Palace Convention Centre in Kempton Park on 21 June 2017. Attorneys’ firms are invited to align themselves with the Procurement Protocols by completing the ‘Expression of Interest’ form and returning it to the LSSA before 31 May 2017.
Click here to download the ‘Expression of Interest’ form.

Attorneys’ firms who signal their support for the Procurement Protocols will be invited to attend the signing ceremony. Alternatively, for those who are not able to attend, their information will be included in the list of attorneys’ firms which have committed to support and implement the Procurement Protocols. The names of the firms will be published on the LSSA website and firms will receive a certificate indicating their support of the protocols.
