Declaration For Purposes of Independents Voting

(This Declaration and Agreement is made to be eligible to nominate and vote for the Independent Constituent Provincial Candidates be listed on the Database of the Independent Constituency of the LSSA) and electing members to serve on the Association

I the undersigned hereby declare and agree that:

I understand that as the LSSA is a constituency-based organization and that the Independents are defined as independent attorneys who are not affiliated to the BLA or Nadel.

I accept that the LSSA Independent Constituent participation is for co-ordinating purposes for those members of the profession not already represented by the BLA or Nadel.

I cannot be a member of the Independents if I am a member of BLA or NADEL at the same time.

I accordingly declare and certify that by completing this nomination/ballot paper, that I am not a member of BLA or of NADEL. I undertake to uphold the values and objectives of the independents and will promote same. I also undertake that if I intend to or if I do become a member of one of the other constituents, I will declare such fact and no longer take part in this election.

I understand that I am not discouraged to join any of the constituents of the LSSA. This declaration is only a means to ensure that the representation of independent attorneys on the LSSA remain independent in the context as used in the current constitution of the LSSA.

I confirm that I am independent as set out in the constitution of the Law Society of South Africa which define members of its Independent Constituent as being Non-BLA and Non- NADEL.

I am truly independent and have not resigned from such organisation/s or avoided joining them on order to influence the Independent Constituent views or vote.

I acknowledge that the Independent Constituency of the LSSA will confirm their Provincial nominee to represent them on the LSSA Council [House of Constituents]

I undertake not to compromise the Independence of the Independent Constituent but understand that I may disagree with their viewpoint because of independently applying my mind.

I am only voting for this purpose in one of the provinces of South Africa.

I agree that my details may be added to a data base for purposes of the Independent Constituency communication and related matters.
