Press release

The attorneys’ profession pays tribute to a prominent South African labour lawyer and the founder of Goldberg Attorneys Inc.

Pretoria – The Law Society of South Africa (LSSA) has learned with great sadness of the passing of Andrew Goldberg, a prominent South African labour lawyer, acting judge of the Labour Court and founder of Goldberg Attorneys Inc.

The LSSA extends its deepest condolences to Mr Goldberg’s family and friends, to his colleagues at Goldberg Attorneys Inc, to the Labour Court and to the labour law community, who have lost a respected colleague.

LSSA President Machini Motloung said the passing of Mr Goldberg is a loss to the attorneys’ profession and to the justice system:

‘The passing of Andrew Goldberg is a loss to the attorneys’ profession and to the labour law community. As a practitioner, as the founder of his own firm and as an acting judge of the Labour Court, he served the administration of justice from the practice and from the bench. Labour law touches the working lives of millions of South Africans, and those who practise it with skill and integrity contribute directly to fairness at work and to the rule of law. On behalf of South Africa’s attorneys, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, to his colleagues at Goldberg Attorneys Inc and to all who knew him.’

The LSSA joins the legal profession and the Labour Court in mourning Mr Goldberg’s passing and in honouring his contribution to labour law in South Africa.
