LSSA and Laws.Africa launches My LawLibrary: Personalised legal research is now within reach

The Law Society of South Africa and Laws.Africa launches My LawLibrary: Powerful and personalised legal research is now within reach
The Law Society of South Africa (LSSA) and Laws.Africa have announced the launch of My LawLibrary, a new set of powerful research tools built for legal professionals who need to work faster and smarter. Available now on LawLibrary.org.za, this marks a major milestone in making professional-grade legal research more accessible, especially for sole practitioners and small law firms.
The LSSA’s mandate includes supporting the growth and development of the legal profession, particularly sole practitioners and small firms. By working together, Laws.Africa and the LSSA are ensuring that affordable, professional-grade research tools are available to those who need them the most. For practitioners just starting out, or running lean firms, My LawLibrary offers a powerful way to stay current, conduct accurate and efficient research, and deliver high-quality legal services without the high costs often associated with legal research platforms.
“We have always believed that access to the law must be free. With My LawLibrary, we go further, giving legal professionals the tools they need to build a personalised, time-saving research workflow on top of our freely available content,” says Sade Lekena of Laws.Africa.
My LawLibrary reduces research time and surfaces relevant materials more easily, with features that include:
- Saved documents and research folders: Organise your research with private folders, add notes and comments, and pick up exactly where you left off.
- Citation alerts: Be the first to know when there’s a new citation of a judgment that you’ve saved.
- Search alerts: Automatically get notified when new cases match your saved searches.
- AI-powered suggestions: Discover relevant judgments based on your areas of interest, helping you find useful materials you may have missed.
- Full case summaries: AI-powered case summaries for all judgments, for faster comprehension.
- Legislation versioning and comparisons: View historical versions of legislation and individual provisions and see how they’ve changed over time.
These tools are built on top of LawLibrary’s core collection of comprehensive, freely accessible legislation and court judgments. That foundation remains free and open to all.
My LawLibrary is available now. Full pricing details and feature comparisons are available at lawlibrary.org.za. As part of a collaboration with the LSSA, all legal practitioners in good standing receive up to 25% off subscription fees for the first year of membership. It is our shared commitment to strengthening small firms, promoting professional excellence, and improving access to legal resources across the profession.
