Why the Women’s Task Team exists
Female law practitioners account for 42% of South Africa’s law professionals. But women are not equally represented in the profession’s leadership roles. And woman’s voices are not equally heard. Gender discrimination practices continue to undervalue woman’s work, restrict woman practitioners to specific roles and subject women to unfair harassment, bias and prejudices that have driven valuable talent from our industry. We plan to make the law an attractive and safe profession for women and attract valuable female skills to our profession.
The goals of the Women’s Task Team
The WTT aim to interrogate gender inequality issues, barriers, and frustrations in South Africa’s law profession – and develop strategies and allocate resources to actions that help to achieve gender equality for all.
